Baptisms

Through the Sacrament of Baptism, a life enters the Catholic faith. It is a welcoming Sacrament. It is because of this reason that at Our Lady of Grace, our Baptisms are communal*, meaning that your family celebrates Baptisms along other families.

Important things to consider:

Please review the requirements page carefully and note that these are requirements applicable for families with children under the age of 7. If your child is over 7 years old and wishes to Baptize, you should contact the Parish Office.

You may turn the documents to the parish office along with the following documents:

  1. Copy of your child’s birth certificate
  2. Copy of Confirmation certificate of at least one of the Godparent’s (please review requirements for Godparent’s carefully)
  3. If you are not a registered parishioner or live within Encino, then you would need to contact your local parish and ask for a Parish Permission letter. This is for jurisdiction purposes only.
  4. The rate for Baptisms is $100 for registered-contributing parishioners and $150 for non-parishioners.
  5. Private Baptisms are approved on a case-by-case basis. Dates for private Baptisms are confirmed at the discretion of the celebrating priest or deacon. The donation for private Baptisms is $300 per child. Families wishing to celebrate a private Baptism are still expected to turn in all required documentation to the Parish Office.
  6. You can make your donations for Baptisms, with cash, check or online. Checks should be made payable to Our Lady of Grace. When using the online platform to make your donation, please make sure to add your child’s name and Baptism date in the notes section. Additionally, please email a copy of your transaction’s receipt to [email protected]
  7. Baptisms are celebrated every third weekend of the month and we offer them in English and Spanish. Spanish Baptisms are on 3rd Saturday of the month at 12:00 pm (unless otherwise specified) and English Baptisms are celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 2:30 pm (unless otherwise specified)
  8. If your kid is over 7 years old and wishes to be baptized, then you must enroll in First Holy Communion/Religious Education preparation. Your child will receive the sacrament of Baptism by the end of the first year of religious education.
