ORDER of the Initiation of adults

The Order of Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is for those adults who wish to become part of the Catholic Church by receiving the Sacraments of Christian Initiation. This program was known before as the Rite of Initiation for Adults (RCIA), but this was changed on November 2021, by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is now asking to reflect this change, in order to “invite candidates and catechumens into a continous process of spiritual formation.”

Who is eligible for OCIA?

  1. A person 18 years or older who has never been Baptized in the Catholic Church.
  2. A person of another Christian denomination who wishes to enter in communion with the Catholic faith under her Apostolic and Roman rites
  3. A person who wishes to marry a Catholic person and also wishes to become Catholic
  4. A person who is either missing 2 or more Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation)
  5. A person from another religion who wishes to be part of the Catholic faith

You are welcome here!

Catechesis (or series of classes) are required to receive the Sacraments. Therefore any person enrolled in the OCIA program needs to complete this prepation.

OCIA meets every Wednesday night at 7:00 pm in the Parish Center. Enrollment for OCIA for 2024-2025 is NOW OPEN. Click on the button below to register. Classes begin Wednesday, September 11, 2024
